THE PLACE BEHIND THE ADDRESS

How Tower Ranch took shape

Tower Ranch is a golf and residential community on the Ellison Bench, built on ranch land owned by rancher Stan Tower. Developed as a joint venture with Intrawest, its Thomas McBroom course opened in 2008. Homes are newer, with freehold view lots and a separate land lease community.

High on the eastern bench above Rutland, the land that became Tower Ranch was a mix of deep ravines, orchard land, rocky knolls and open ranchland with long views to Okanagan Lake. It belonged to rancher Stan Tower, and a golf and residential community here was his idea for more than a decade before it happened. He partnered with the resort developer Intrawest, and Canadian architect Thomas McBroom laid out an 18 hole course that follows the ravines and promontories. The course opened in 2008 and was named Best New Course of 2009 by Travel and Leisure Golf. SCORE Golf now ranks it among Canada's top public courses. Homes followed around the fairways on streets such as Tower Ranch Boulevard and Kentucky Crescent.

The City protected a forested knoll as Tower Ranch Mountain Park, about 19 hectares with trails. Later phases have been built by Emil Anderson Properties with Dilworth Homes, which markets freehold lots and says there are no leases on its homes. Parkbridge runs a separate section, Solstice at Tower Ranch, where owners buy the house but lease the land. By 2026 the builders were selling the final lots and homes of the last phase, so Tower Ranch is close to built out. The community reads as one of Kelowna's newest hillside neighbourhoods: open views, newer construction and a short drive to the airport.

The homes & their setting

Everything dates from 2008 or later: single family view homes, bungalows with walkout basements, semi detached townhomes (Tallgrass Ridge) and golf course homes. Emil Anderson and Dilworth Homes phases are freehold; Solstice at Tower Ranch by Parkbridge is a land lease community.
