Make a map of your real life
Start with the places you visit often: work, groceries, recreation, appointments and the people important to you. Put those on a map before you make a list of homes. The locations that connect those places may surprise you.
Visit outside the showing
A scheduled viewing is only one moment. If possible, return to the area at another time. Walk the surrounding streets, look at the route you would use and notice how the setting changes. Test travel times yourself rather than relying on a broad promise.
Be specific about lifestyle
Walkability might mean a coffee shop to one person and access to essential services to another. Outdoor living could mean a balcony, a large garden or nearby trails. Explain what those words mean to you so that a property shortlist reflects your priorities.
Compare ownership as well as location
A detached home, townhome and condo can all support a good life in the Okanagan. Each carries different responsibilities. When a property interests you, ask about maintenance, documents and the details that should be reviewed by qualified professionals.
Leave room for what you discover
You may begin with Kelowna and find that another community deserves a closer look. Or you may realize one neighbourhood has the daily rhythm you have been looking for. Share those observations with Elaine. A good search becomes more focused as you learn.
